Experience

Experience

My work has covered product development, e-commerce, marketing, business operations and community projects. I like understanding how the different parts of a business fit together and what needs to happen for an idea to work in practice.

Some of my outside consulting work is confidential, so this page focuses on businesses and projects I can speak about publicly.

Co-founder

GearTOP

GearTOP is one of the product businesses I've helped build and operate. My experience includes working across product development, sourcing, e-commerce and marketing, with the practical decisions that come with running a brand over time.

Working on our own products has given me a detailed understanding of the relationship between the product itself, how it's presented, who buys it and how it performs across different sales channels.

Co-founder

TapeGeeks

TapeGeeks is another business I've helped develop, with products serving athletic, recovery and breathing-related needs. My involvement spans product development and marketing as well as the systems behind selling online.

The business works across Amazon and Shopify, and also reaches professional and wholesale customers. I also work on the content and the websites for both brands, tapegeeks.com and geartopdesign.com. Working across those audiences has given me practical experience with both direct-to-consumer and B2B communication, pricing and customer journeys.

Channels

Amazon, Shopify and sourcing

I've sold on Amazon since 2014, principally in Canada and the US, and have experience with the European marketplace as well. I've also worked with Shopify, Faire, wholesale and B2B channels.

My experience has not been limited to what happens after a product is listed. I've been involved in product development, sourcing and factory visits in China, as well as the marketing and operational work that follows.

Marketing Director

Bronte Harbour Classic

I'm Marketing Director for the Mercedes-Benz Oakville Bronte Harbour Classic, a community running event in Oakville. It's a different kind of marketing challenge from selling products online: reaching the right audience, building awareness, coordinating communications, supporting partnerships and creating a recognizable event people want to take part in.

It's also an opportunity to work with a broader team and bring many different marketing pieces together around one event.

Co-founder & Community Lead

AI for Business

Greg and I co-founded AI for Business. We host free meetups in Hamilton and Oakville. We created them to make practical AI ideas more accessible to local business owners, whether they're using AI already or still trying to understand where to start.

Greg leads most of the technical presentations and demonstrations. I focus on building relationships, finding and working with venues, promoting the meetups, connecting with local owners and helping the community grow.

Inside our businesses

Helm and our apps

Alongside Greg, I'm involved in developing Helm, a seller-intelligence system he built to bring together information from different sales and marketing channels, and our two apps, RunMate Pro and SunUp. Greg does the engineering. My side is the product, the customer and the business case: what it should do, who it is for, and whether it helps an owner make a better decision.

For me, the question is practical: does this help us understand the business better and make better decisions? That's the perspective I bring to testing and using tools in our companies.

Consulting

Working with other businesses

Alongside operating my own brands, I've worked with other businesses on e-commerce, marketing and growth. Much of that work is private, which is why you won't see every engagement listed here. If we're discussing a project, I'm happy to explain the kinds of work I take on and how I approach them.

Have a project in mind?

Tell me a little about your business and what you'd like help with. We can have a conversation and decide if it's a good fit.

The first conversation is simple: what your business does, what you've tried, and whether I'm the right person to help. No pitch deck.
